What are pedagogical principles and how are they connected to stories?

 

At INSiGHTS, we look at learning not only through the question of what is taught, but also through the question of how meaningful learning develops in practice and how it can be supported. To do this, the system is built around meta principles and pedagogical principles that are closely connected to one another. Meta principles are grounded in theories and conceptual frameworks in learning and instructional sciences, and offer broad ideas about how learning develops through inquiry, dialogue, curiosity, and learner responsibility. Pedagogical principles translate these ideas into actionable approaches that can support the planning, facilitation, and reflection on teaching and learning processes. They are also research-based and continue to evolve through an ongoing dialogue between research and educational practice. The stories in the system make it possible to see how pedagogical principles take shape in different ways across real educational settings.
